Large-Size Goji Berries

“Goji” is widely used to refer to several related species of fruit-bearing bush – ours berries are Lyceum barbarum, the sweeter, traditionally-favored type. These premium berries are sifted from our crop to select for large size, yielding especially plump, full-bodied fruits.

“Ecologically grown” means we ensure that absolutely no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other synthetic chemicals are used in cultivation. In the United States, the USDA strictly regulates any use of the word “organic” on product labels, and requires growers and vendors to undergo an expensive process, designed with large manufacturers[/agribusinesses] in mind, which is not viable for most small-scale and artisanal operations. Unless a business has obtained USDA Organic certification, the word “organic” cannot be used to describe their products, no matter what actual standards were followed in production or what other third-party organizations may have ensured that such standards were met.

We are not allowed, for the time being, to say that our goji berries are organic. However, we stand behind all information in our descriptions and labeling detailing the purity and the growing and processing methods of our products. We support the USDA’s Organic initiative, and look forward to eventually obtaining Organic certification.
